Book Club

The TempleSinai  Book Club meets in the Chapel on the third Wednesday of each month. We read fiction as well as nonfiction. The books generally have a Jewish author or theme. Members choose the book selections and then may volunteer to moderate although this is not mandatory. Some of the books we have discussed include The Plot Against America, by Philip Roth, which was chosen after we read The Aviator's Wife, by Melanie Benjamin, because they both feature Charles Lindbergh. Another book that was chosen was A Gentleman In Moscow, by Amor Towles, which engendered a wonderful discussion about the Russian revolution. One of our most successful meetings was discussing War of the Raven, by Temple Sinai member Andrew Kaplan, who attended the meeting to discuss it with us.

The book for the month is announced in the Shofar each month. Some books we are considering for this year include Button Man, by Andrew Gross, The Tattooist of Auschwitz, by Heather Morris, and The Alice Network, by Kate Quinn. We try to choose books that are available at the local library and on Kindle, and preferably in paperback.

There is a $5.00 donation which is given to the Temple religious school. Everyone is welcome, including snowbirds. The fall start date will be announced in the Shofar. For additional information, contact Sharyn McKee,
