Baruchim Ha’Ba’im – Welcome to Temple Sinai!

We are a liberal Congregation, warm to Jewish tradition.  Temple Sinai has grown to over 460 membership units, but congregational size is not necessarily a true measure of congregational success. There are other yard sticks, such as quality of lay leadership, involvement in programs, depth of worship, level of education and participation in the overall life of the congregation.

We learn from our Rabbis that a synagogue fulfills three roles. It is a Beit K’nesset, a place to gather with other Jews; a Beit Midrash, a place of Jewish learning; and a Beit T’fillah, a place for prayer and worship. It goes without saying that these concepts are foundations of our Jewish community at Temple Sinai – The idea of Talmud Torah K’negged Kulam, which means “the study of Torah is equal to all other religious obligations,” has given Temple Sinai’s life a sense of excitement.

A synagogue is also an extension of your family. It is your “home away from home,” fulfilling and expanding your Jewish identity.  As your Rabbi, I shall try to enhance your worship experience, teach you and your children about our rich history, customs and ceremonies; be available for listening, pastoral counseling and officiating at life cycles.

Someone once said to me, “The thing that I like about you is that you are a regular guy who happens to be a Rabbi.” I take that as a compliment. My choice of the Rabbinate as a career was so that I could enhance my Jewish knowledge, my Hebrew facility, and be touched by our rich history. I hope I will be able to transmit my love of who we are as Jews to each of our congregants.  My first objective is to “educate the whole Jew; my second objective is to make the Jew whole.” Hopefully, we will embark on our journey together.
